Health and safety is an essential component of long-term marquee hire, whatever industry you’re in. It’s a key part of what we do and, with our years’ of experience, Trafalgar Structures really are the experts when it comes to supplying strong, practical and stylish marquees. Ones that will keep your staff and guests happy, comfortable and, most importantly, safe.
If you’re looking for long-term hire for your school, restaurant or construction site then the main thing you’ll want to focus on is how it can help your protect your people and organisation, knowing that all the health and safety requirements are covered. So, that’s where our highly trained team come in. Here’s how we keep you safe while your customers, staff or pupils go about their day…
We have marquees in all shapes and sizes, to suit most locations. Initially we’ll send our experienced team out to do a site visit and complete a full risk assessment and method statement. They’ll measure the area and assess the surface the marquee will sit on and how level it is, as well as any likely construction hazards. They’ll also look at things like access requirements and parking.
Our trained staff will then build and dismantle your structure safely, monitored by an experienced site manager. Training and risk assessments are of key importance, and all of our staff have completed the MUTA Structure safe site safety course, alongside on-site health and safety training. We also have trained first aiders on the team.
Our marquees are ready to use and can be built in any size, on any surface, to fit your requirements. The structures are built to withstand the winter months and, once yours is in place, a monthly health and safety inspection will ensure it adheres to our high standards for the duration of the hire.
We’ll also make safety recommendations for the fitting out of the marquee. For example, if it’s likely to be wet, we would always recommend a hard, non-slip floor that can easily be kept dry. Catering areas also require non-slip flooring, good ventilation and more, which the team will discuss with you. All the furniture, heating and lighting we supply complies fully with health and safety regulations, and is regularly safety tested. Plus, for your peace of mind, an optional damage waiver is added to all quotes, to cover you against most eventualities (subject to our Terms and Conditions).
We’ve worked hard to develop solutions to the ever-changing requirements of the Covid pandemic. Being Covid secure starts with us, that is why all of our staff have their temperature taken and follow current social distancing rules on site and in the yard. Where close work is necessary, we ensure a face mask or a shield is worn. It’s the small things that matter at Trafalgar too, and all our vehicles are fitted with hand sanitiser and anti-bacterial wipes.
For your marquee hire, we can provide hands-free sanitiser stations with Covid signage and floor mats. We also offer state-of-the-art TMAC (Temperature Monitoring Access Control) technology, for purchase or hire. It reads people’s temperature and grants access accordingly. It also has face recognition and the ability to check if the user is wearing a face mask. Perfect if you have people constantly in and out of the office/establishment/site all day.
Yes, our marquees are fully staked and weighted and completely fire resistant and weatherproof. They are made in accordance with EC safety standards and, following a fire risk assessment, will always have the required number of fire exits. Also, unless there are exceptional weather conditions, you should experience no problems in our marquees. In fact, our marquees are often used to protect projects from the weather, meaning they can stay right on schedule.
Don’t just take our word for it, though. We are proud to be members of MUTA (Made Up Textiles Association), the UK’s only trade association dedicated to marquees, tents and structures. This governing body improves standards in the temporary structure industry and promotes best practice. We adhere to its Best Practice Guide with all our work and regularly allow its inspectors to visit our sites to confirm compliance with this code.
We also follow the government guidelines for temporary structures, as set out by the Health and Safety Executive. Alongside this we continually monitor and revise our own health and safety management, to ensure all industry standards are met. Our health and safety policy, risk assessments, method statements, fire safety certificates and insurance certificates are all available on request.
Finally, we love our marquees, so we treat them with plenty of TLC. Each and every component is regularly inspected for wear and tear, damage and cleanliness, as per the guidelines set out in the MUTA Best Practice Guide.
So, as you can see, health and safety really is at the forefront of what we do, which leaves you free to focus on running a successful school, business or construction project. Safe in the knowledge that, behind the scenes, the well-trained Trafalgar Structures team will continue to deliver high quality services, products and processes as safely as possible.
