Trafalgar Marquees is committed to being a sustainable business. We are constantly looking at ways to reduce our carbon footprint, at recycling and ensuring as little as possible goes to landfill. But, as marquees are made of PVC and aluminium, we have to consistently mindful of what e do and how we do it.
Here is what we are currently doing to be a sustainable business:
Our fleet vehicles are, on average, less than four years old. As each comes up for renewal it will be replaced with a hybrid or electric vehicle. The nature of our business means we do a lot of mileage, so we are doing everything we can to reduce the impact of the mileage.
The great thing about marquees is that they are delivered using small vehicles, particularly when compared to other ways of adding space. Other options require HGVs and Hi-ab vehicles for delivery, removal and even changes.
We are aiming to completely remove single-use plastics from the business. Every member of our team has an insulated water bottle to remove the need for buying bottles.
We have a strict recycling process in the office, diverting as much of the waste that we produce from landfill as possible. Bins are clearly marked, and there are posters around the bins and office to help label what can and can’t be accepted.
Low energy bulbs are used throughout the warehouse and yard, with a plan to install solar power to provide all electricity very soon. Combined with the fact that installing, and dismantling, marquees uses far less energy than alternatives, we are minimising the amount of energy we use.
Whenever possible we repair, rather than replace, the component parts of our marquees, including the PVC sheets, the aluminium poles and flooring. Carpeting is reused whenever possible and often for alternative uses around the yard. Anything we can do to reduce what needs to go to landfill.
We are constantly looking for ways to minimise our impact on the environment. We aim to
We will continue to do so going forward.
