Kingsdale Foundation School is an ‘outstanding’ (Ofsted, 2017), secondary school in South East London.
The school identified they required more teaching space as the Covid-19 pandemic continued, combined with building works in the school, meant that additional temporary classrooms would be required. These classrooms would need to be located on existing space within the school.
Listening closely to the requirements from Kingsdale’s senior leadership team, Trafalgar Structures, put forward two solutions, of two differing size classrooms, one solution of a classroom for teaching up to 35 students and the other for a classroom for up to 20 students. We presented a range of 3 hire options, for 3, 6, and 9 months hire, with a range of fit out options.
From initial discussions from supplying one classroom, the requirement developed into the need for 4 classrooms on the school estate.
Trafalgar Structures supplied a mix of structure size to maximise the use for the school, two classrooms for up to 35 students, and two for up to 20 students. All classrooms were fitted with solid doors, low energy consumption LED lighting, solid doors for entrance, full length windows for daylight, hand sanitiser stations, fire extinguishers and sockets for audio visual needs. Due to the demands on additional space, we have also retro-fitted full height partitions, so each structure now provides two classrooms.
Due to health and safety requirements onsite, the structures required electric heating, rather than oil fired heating. As a result we worked closely with our heating supplier to supply and fit a hot water system for the structures, working with the confines of the electricity supply present.
